Flame retardant treated thermosets include various polymer chemistries (i.e. epoxy resins, unsaturated polyesters, vinyl esters, polyurethanes, phenolics or polyurea) but they share many common aspects. They find wide application (reinforced composites, coatings/adhesives/sealants) across a range of industries (E&E, transportation, building/construction) which are subject to significantly varied flame retardant specifications. They may be processed using many different techniques which often dictate the choice of possible additives.

In halogen-free applications, where ATH cannot be used due to the very high loading or for process reasons, our AFLAMMIT® toolbox offers an extensive range of powerful phosphorus FRs and nitrogen synergists that allow the formulation of systems with very good flame retardancy without compromising the processing and mechanical properties.

Defining the formulation strategy and selecting suitable additives is a long and complex process and tailor-made products are often the solution. Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
